My cat's Christmas trees.
Share
On December 28, 2023, my husband and I heard a strange noise upstairs. It sounded like it was coming from our bathtub. When we investigated, we found our 13 year old cat, Yoda, struggling. We immediately called our vet, who said come in now. We did and were then told to go to the animal hospital where they had a cardiologist in that day.
It turns out Yoda threw a blood clot. He was also in heart failure. Thankfully, they could get him stabilized. He loves lying under our Christmas tree, so we decided to leave it up past Epiphany this year for him.
Two weeks later, we were back at the animal hospital with more issues. He was diagnosed with pancreatitis, IBS, and lymphoma, too. We didn’t know how long we’d have with him, so we decided to just keep the tree up for him.
But after a while, I got tired of seeing the Christmas ornaments, when it was well past the holidays, so away those decorations went. We now had an empty tree with lights. I decided that wasn’t good enough for Yoda, so I went to the Dollar Tree and bought St. Patrick’s Day themed items, mesh, and ribbons.
Now we had a green and gold tree. He loved playing with the garland, so we called it a win.
